Grants

A Child's Desire, Children's Charity

A Child's Desire offers grants to children who are waiting to be chosen. Every grant given by A Child's Desire has benefited orphans over the age of eight or orphans with severe disabilities, such as missing limbs. They also have two fundraisers that adopting families can use to earn money for their own adoptions.

Adoption from the US Public Foster Care System

If you are interested in adopting a child who is currently waiting in foster care, often not only are fees kept to a minimum or even waived, but many of the children will be eligible for federally-funded or state-funded adoption subsidy payments which help you meet the child's ongoing needs. In addition, some children qualify for SSI (Social Security Insurance) payments or Medicaid coverage because of their medical conditions. For more information, contact the Department of Social Services in your State.

Adoption Subsidy

Children with special needs may qualify for an adoption subsidy which is paid to adoptive families to help them pay for their child's need for ongoing therapies or treatment. Adoption subsidy agreements must be negotiated with the placing agency before the child's adoption is finalized.
For more information contact the North American Council for Adoptable Children

Non-Recurring Adoption Expense Reimbursement

After families have finalized the adoption of a child with special needs from the public child welfare system, they may be able to apply for reimbursement of expenses they paid related to the adoption, which may include home study fees, travel expenses to meet the child, attorney fees, etc. Each state sets a maximum cap which cannot exceed $2,000 per adoption.

Americans Adopting Orphans

Americans Adopting Orphans
Each quarter the Board of Advisors will meet to recommend that individual client families of Americans Adopting Orphans receive grants to help them with their adoption.

We also help families fund raise by setting up special funds for their adoption, to which family and friends can make tax deductible contributions.

Brittany's Hope

Brittany's Hope is a little different than most grant programs. They put grant money on specific children that are submitted to them by placing agencies in the hopes of getting potential families interested in the child. On their site you can see a photo listing of children and how much the grant is that is being offered for that child.

Caroline's Promise

Caroline's Promise has a goal to provide $3,000 - $5,000 grants throughout the year to Christian couples who are in the adoption process. They are currently only accepting applications from couples who live in North Carolina.

Dillon International

Dillon International Adoption Agency offers the Building Families/Lisa's Fund to help families, who qualify for financial assistance, with their adoption and to help children with special needs to find a permanent family. This fund was established by several Dillon adoptive families who wanted to share their joy in adoption with other families who might not have the financial resources to realize their dream of building a family. They also created the fund to help children with special needs become more accessible for adoption. This fund is only available to families who are adopting through Dillon International.

The average grant with the Building Families/Lisa's Fund is $1,000 - $2,000, but may be less or more depending upon an individual family's need.

If you are interested in adopting through Dillon International and would like more information about qualifying for a Building Families/Lisa's Fund grant, please contact Dillon's office at info@dillonadopt.com or call 918/749-4600.

Shaohannah's Hope

Shaohannah's Hope is dedicated to caring for orphans by engaging the church and helping Christian families reduce the financial burden of adoption. They accomplish this by awarding financial adoption grants to qualified families already in the process of adopting. The size of the grant awarded is determined by several factors, the most important being need. With a commitment in faith by the family, Shaohannah's Hope will provide up to $7000 toward the cost of adopting, thereby reducing the financial barriers and allowing more families to experience the miracle of adoption. Don't let finances keep you from adopting a child. For information on applying for a grant, please visit www.shaohannahshope.org.

The Shepherds Crook Ministries
