Early this fall (2010), the Affording Adoption Foundation gave my husband and me a grant to help us with our adoption of a sweet baby boy.

We have experienced a very difficult adoption, and over the course of 7 months we racked up a $10,000 attorney bill (not to mention the other thousands of dollars we spent for a home study, placement fee, and travel). While our adoption was hard on our finances, we cannot even describe how hard it was on our hearts. We know God was completely in control of the situation, and we truly believe he worked through the Affording Adoption Foundation to provide us with an ounce of hope in what seemed to be a very hopeless situation, financially and emotionally.

Our sweet boy is 8 months old now, the difficult part of the adoption is over, and we cannot thank the Affording Adoption Foundation enough for its help in covering the astronomical attorney fees. It was such a relief to be able to tell our agency that the Affording Adoption Foundation would be sending them a check to cover a nice chunk of the fees.

Thank you so much for the work you are doing. You are SAVING LIVES.

In March of 2011, our family received a phone call from Affording Adoption Foundation, to tell us we had been awarded a grant to help us with the adoption of a beautiful 12.5 year old girl from Inner Mongolia, China.  She was born without a left hand and had been living in the orphanage all her life, hoping for a family someday.  Well, we became a family in the summer of 2011 and she has been such a blessing to us.  She’s incredibly happy, smart, funny & beautiful.  She loves having a family and playing with all her siblings (she is #9)!  She learned English so fast and has also learned sign language since we are a signing family (2 deaf sons).  Even without her hand, she signs beautifully & gracefully.  She is an inspiration to many.  Our hearts were humbled & overjoyed to receive the help from AAF.  The grant we received really helped our family.  Your foundation and your purpose is changing the lives of precious children.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts – may God bless you for pouring your love & support into this beautiful ministry.
Lisa & Michael (and our 10 kids)
